From athletics to robotics, mathematics to music, a Woodlands education is as much 关于 what goes on outside the classroom as within it. Our programs encourage each student to try something new and compete to the highest of her ability.
Girls are front and center in our classrooms and our teachers can teach in the ways that girls learn best. Each student at Woodlands develops meaningful relationships with adults and is encouraged to take an active role in her learning.
Woodlands Academy’s curriculum encourages girls to explore their talents, broaden their horizons, and learn what it means to be a global citizen. Our Center for Global Studies is an integral part of that.
Every day our students are surrounded with powerful examples of young women taking charge and making a difference in their world. And it starts from day one.
Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart is pleased to share that we plan to open for in-person instruction for the fall semester. We are committed to the health and safety of our entire community as well as to providing a superior education that empowers girls to change the world.
Members of Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart’s Class of 2020 had to wait a bit due to COVID-19 restrictions, but 27 of them were able to return to campus Aug. 6 for one of the school’s traditional senior year celebrations. Wearing their white graduation caps and gowns – with the addition of matching face masks – and with spectators watching via a live YouTube feed rather than from the pews, each socially distanced graduate in the chapel received a Passport symbolizing her admission into local, national, and global alumnae associations of the Sacred Heart.
International students unable to attend in-person classroom activity due to visa and COVID-19 constraints can fully participate in four robust online courses grounded in the Sacred Heart mission thanks to the collaborative effort of their two network schools. Educators at Forest Ridge School in Bellevue, Washington, and Woodlands Academy in Lake Forest, Illinois, worked together this summer to create this new initiative open to some domestic students as well.
The 36 members of Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart’s Class of 2020 participated in a community-wide senior celebration via Zoom Meeting on June 11, the originally scheduled date for our 161st annual Commencement Ceremony. Highlights of this virtual alternative included: a nostalgia video made especially for the Class of 2020 marking their time on campus, a moment for each graduate to be spotlighted, and a special commissioning of the class.
