Board chair Wayne Aaron has announced that Paideia has hired DEI consultant Al Vivian to "help the school achieve meaningful change as it relates to diversity, equity and inclusion." Vivian is president and CEO of Basic Diversity, started by his father C.T. Vivian 45 years ago. The Atlanta-based company is rated as one of the top inclusive leadership consulting firms in the industry. Vivian will begin working with the Paideia community in September.
Paideia alumna Shivani Beall ’16, who played soccer at Emory University for four years, has been selected as the University Athletic Association’s representative for the 2020 NCAA Woman of the Year Award.
Six junior high students were national winners in the Nicholas A. Virgilio Memorial Haiku and Senryu Competition for Grades 7-12. The winners were chosen from over 3000 entries.
The winning haiku are published in results in Frogpond, the journal of the Haiku Society of America and on the HAS website.. Each poet also receives a prize of $100.
Emily Green '01 won a 2020 Pulitzer Prize in Audio Reporting for a story aired on the Public Radio program This American Life about the impact of the Trump administration's remain in Mexico policy on asylum seekers.
